Hello, I’m Juan, born and raised in Madrid, and the author of this blog.

For those who’d like to know a bit more about me, let’s start from the beginning when I was a child who collected maps, drew and coloured them, and spent hours imagining what those faraway cities might look like: the golden glow of deserts under the sun, the deep green of tropical jungles, or the world’s tallest mountains that, back then, I could only trace and touch on paper.

Then came the awkward teenage years followed by a time of caution and reason when some of the dreams I’d had as a boy slowly began to take shape.

Even now, I keep chasing that same feeling the one that comes from truly embracing, sensing, and touching those places that once lived only in my imagination.

And that’s what brings us here today. Since I first started travelling the world, I’ve always preferred to plan my own journeys. Sometimes though it may sound odd — the process of planning was just as thrilling as the experience itself. I still look back with great fondness on the wonderful itinerary I created for my trip to Iceland in 2015.  🙂

In short, I got into the habit of double-checking the information other bloggers shared online. Then one day, feeling a spark of inspiration, I started toying with the idea of creating my own website.

It turned out to be a great decision. I thought that helping other independent travellers would be something truly fulfilling. But at the time, I had to learn how to design a blog and believe me, if you haven’t the faintest idea where to begin, it’s no easy task!

With determination, a lot of dedication, and the support of some wonderful people, Wandering Passport has become a reality. I’m simply the one who writes the articles you’ll find here. Every story is born from real experiences moments I’ve lived and shared with fellow travellers I’ve met along the way. So it would be an absolute gift if you, the reader of these spontaneous lines, felt inspired to join in with your own ideas, tips, and recommendations.
