ICELAND TRAVEL BLOG

DOCUMENTATION: if you’re citizen of the European Union, all you need is your ID card, provided it’s valid for at least three months. You can also use your passport. If you’re a national of any other country, it’s best to check the official website of the Icelandic Ministry for Foreign Affairs for up to date entry requirements.

LOCAL TIME IN ICELAND: Iceland follows GMT + 0.

LANGUAGE: The official language of Iceland is Icelandic, but almost everyone speaks excellent English. You’ll have no trouble communicating in English, even with the locals.

INTERNET CONNECTION: Iceland is part of the Zone 1 roaming area, which means your mobile plan will work just like it does in the European Union. You can make calls and use your mobile data as usual. However, be aware that in many parts of Iceland, especially in the north and central regions, the signal can be quite weak or even non-existent. If you’re travelling from outside the EU, I’d recommend getting an eSIM card, and you can even get 5% off.

PLUGS IN ICELAND: The plugs in Iceland are the same as in most of Europe, and the electricity runs at 220V.
